Tatsiana Khomich

Tatsiana Khomich is the Belarusian Coordination Council Representative for Political Prisoners and the sister of imprisoned opposition leader Maria Kalesnikava.

Khomich joined the insurgent presidential campaign of Viktar Babaryka alongside her sister in May 2020 and became Babaryka’s media manager before his June arrest by Belarusian authorities.

After her sister’s arrest in September 2020 she became a voice for her and all of dictator Alexander Lukshenko’s political prisoners, travelling Europe to win support and call attention to the human rights situation in her country.

Her sister refused exile from Belarus by tearing up her passport as authorities tried to deport her after her arrest, and was consequently sentenced to over a decade in detention.
