Kristiyana Valcheva

Kristiyana Valcheva is a Bulgarian nurse who was wrongfully accused by the Libyan regime of participating in the poisoning of 400 Libyan children.

She was kidnapped and tortured by state security forces, and denied legal or diplomatic support. Initially sentenced to death, her sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment, before she was released to travel back to Bulgaria in July 2007.
