Ladan Boroumand is the co-founder of the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for the Promotion of Human Rights and Democracy in Iran, an NGO that promotes human rights awareness and documents abuses carried out by the Islamic Republic.
She is a historian by training and the author of La Guerre des Principes, which examines the tension between human rights and national sovereignty during the French Revolution. She has since published on the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and the nature of Islamist terrorism.
In 2009 she was a recipient of the Lech Walesa Prize.
