Lina Ben Mhenni was a Tunisian blogger and activist who, under the name ‘Tunisian Girl’, disseminated information of the Ben Ali government’s stern crackdown on protesters in Sidi Bouzid – where the movement that would ultimately topple the President and inspire the Arab Spring began.
She passed away in 2020 and was remembered by President Kais Saied: ‘There are women who history does not forget. There are women who make history’.
