Manuel Cuesta is a Cuban historian and political activist. He is the founder of the Progressive Arch, a forum bringing together diverse organisations militating for change in communist Cuba.
Cuesta was key to the 2003 drafting of the Charter of Rights and Duties of Cubans, and has held some 300 roundtable discussions proposing a new, democratic constitution for Cuba. In March 2016 he was one of a select number of Cuban dissidents to meet with President Obama at the American Embassy in Havana.
Cuesta has been victim to several arrests, detained in January 2014 for attempting to attend the second Forum of the Summit of Latin American and Caribbean States in Havana.
