Times Wang is a human rights lawyer based in the United States. He has filed successful lawsuits over issues ranging from forced labor, free speech, privacy, and transnational repression. He comes from a family of human rights activists, most notably his father, Dr. Wang Bingzhang, the longest imprisoned and most severely persecuted Chinese political dissident who remains in solitary confinement to this day.
Dr. Wang Bingzhang sacrificed a promising medical career to become a leader and activist for democratic reform in China. Working tirelessly, Wang launched a Chinese-language pro-democracy magazine and established several political parties in China to challenge the CCP’s one-party rule.
In 2002, Wang was kidnapped by Chinese authorities while visiting Vietnam and later sentenced to life in prison under illegitimate terrorism and espionage charges. While in captivity, Wang has faced torture, causing him to suffer severe physical and mental disabilities which continue to worsen.
Times Wang’s sister Ti-Anna Wang advocated for their father at the 2011 Geneva Summit.
