Dong-hyuk Shin

Dong-Hyuk Shin was born in the infamous “Camp 14”, one of the strictest forced labour camps in North Korea.

He spent most of his life in two different camps, attempted twice to escape unsuccessfully and suffered extensive torture and ill-treatment. He later became the subject of the biography “Escape from Camp 14” and has since been an advocate for human rights in North Korea at multiple international forums.
