Jean-Baptiste Mattei served as the Permanent Representative of France to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva between 2007 and 2012. He then became the Director general for Global Affairs, Development and Partnerships at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2013, when he was appointed Permanent Representative of France to NATO. In 2016 he became France’s Ambassador to the Council of Europe.
Mattei has been recognized as Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and as Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur.
