Jestina Mukoko

Jestina Mukoko is a Zimbabwean human rights activist and Director of the Zimbabwe Peace Project.

Mukoko was abducted in 2008 for her activism and tortured in captivity until her release in March 2009, after appeals from UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and President Jimmy Carter.

She was awarded a US State Department International Woman of Courage Award in 2010.
