Mahan Mehrabi

Mahan Mehrabi is an Iranian human rights activist and the sister of political prisoner Mahmoud Mehrabi.

During the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom protest movement that ignited following the murder of Mahsa Amini, Mahmoud Mehrabi took to social media to amplify the demonstrations. Mehrabi used his platform to call for renewed protests while spotlighting the widespread government corruption and countless injustices being committed by the regime.

In 2023, Mahmoud Mehrabi was arrested under the charge of “corruption on earth,” the most serious offense in Iran. Mahmoud Mehrabi was then sentenced to death. However, following international backlash, Mehrabi’s death sentence was overturned, but he remains imprisoned and subject to ongoing torture.

In 2024, for raising awareness to their brother’s case, Mahan Mehrabi’s sister Maryam Mehrabi was arrested by the regime and later sentenced to six years in prison. While incarcerated, Maryam Mehrabi had gone on multiple hunger strikes to protest her awful detention conditions and unjust conviction. She was temporarily released in November 2024 and remains barred from leaving the country.

Based in Austria, Mahan Mehrabi seeks justice for her siblings and serves as a voice for the millions of Iranians who struggle for freedom, human rights, and dignity under the tyranny of the Islamic regime.
