Melissa Mahtani is a Senior Producer and Reporter for CNN’s award-winning digital team, producing, writing and creating content for the entire network.
In addition to writing breaking news stories and feature articles for CNN, Mahtani hosts Facebook Live interviews with key influencers, including Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, self-described “fat femme yogi” Jesamyn Stanley, and aboard the USS Intrepid for Fleet Week. She connects the traditional world of TV with digital, pushing programming across all platforms and worldwide. She was part of the team that launched “Anderson Cooper Full Circle”—CNN’s first interactive, mobile-friendly vertical video show—and CNN’s current Facebook Watch show, “Go There” in which reporters cover important topics like climate change, race and identity. Mahtani also plays a key role in designing socials strategy around special events including CNN Town Halls, CNN Heroes and the United Nations General Assembly.
Mahtani previously worked on “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” “Reliable Sources,” “Erin Burnett Out Front” and “The World Right Now with Hala Gorani” as a news producer. Most recently, she lead the New York launch of the morning business show “CNNMoney with Maggie Lake,” managing a team spread across three cities. Mahtani has also been a field producer for major international events and produced special content for CNNI, including a special half-hour show on the crisis in Syria.
Mahtani has lived and worked in Zambia, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Italy. She brings more than 15 years of international experience producing content for major broadcasters including CNN, CNBC, France 24 and ITN on a wide variety of platforms. She also regularly moderates panels at international conferences such as the Oslo Freedom Forum and Fordham University’s Impact Investing Unit.
Mahtani received a Bachelor of Arts from King’s College London and a postgraduate diploma from the London School of Journalism.
